Understanding the brief

The Pedigree Hypercasual Game was a branded web experience developed to promote Pedigree’s new gravy product through playful interaction. Designed as a lightweight, engaging touchpoint for pet owners and dog enthusiasts, the game aimed to drive brand awareness and emotional resonance. Responsibilities included designing responsive splash and end screens that maintained visual consistency, intuitive navigation, and smooth transitions across both mobile and desktop platforms. Illustration assets were provided by a third-party illustrator and seamlessly integrated into the UI to preserve the brand’s visual identity. The project balanced marketing goals with user-centered design, offering an accessible and delightful experience.

Timeline : 2 Weeks

Process

The experience was both enriching and creatively challenging, particularly due to the need to align with Pedigree’s brand guidelines and ensure accessibility across platforms. As part of a campaign-focused hypercasual game, the product required a balance between playful engagement and functional clarity. The design was responsive and tailored for users interacting via both desktop and mobile, with accessibility baked into visual and interaction decisions. The goal was to create an intuitive and delightful user journey while reinforcing the brand's message in an interactive format.

1.Research (Who are the users? What is the product? What are the goals?)
Targeted casual gamers and dog lovers engaging with branded marketing content.

2.Collaborate and Build Relationships
Coordinated closely with the project manager and client for UI planning and approvals.

3.Design (Using design tools, accessibility, responsive layouts, brand alignment)
Designed major screens including sign-up, home, instructions, leaderboard, win/lose, and score updates.

4.Iterate & Test
Iterated on layouts and flows based on internal reviews and stakeholder feedback.

5.Release

Key Learnings

  • My first dive into hyper casual game design taught me how to blend fun interactions with clear marketing goals. Learned to stick closely to brand guidelines while keeping the UI simple and user-friendly. Got creative with non-transparent illustrations and made sure the design worked smoothly across devices. Saw how small, playful experiences can build strong emotional connections when the design feels intuitive and on-brand.
